New album “Smutne Usterki o Miłości” is out now

This album was a surprise for me. I never thought I could write in Polish, but after releasing “Rozumiem Wiem,” I gave myself a challenge: to write eight more songs and release a full Polish album, which I completed in just two weeks.

Every day before noon, I would go outside, close my eyes, and face the sun in a kind of meditation. Then I’d come back in and try to write. I read somewhere that sunlight like this can boost creativity and maybe it did.

This approach was new to me. I used to only write when inspiration struck out of nowhere, but this process taught me that you can actually invite the spark in. You can create space for it to show up.

“Smutne Usterki o Miłości” is that album. A collection of quiet, broken pieces about love and all the beautiful flaws that come with it.

“About two years ago, I moved from Brooklyn to Manhattan, after getting an opportunity to live in affordable housing. When I saw the studio apartment that I got, there was this closet that I immediately envisioned making a little recording studio, which was actually a bad idea, but I was too stubborn to change it since I already decided the album name was going to be called “Closet Leftovers”. Before I even started recording, I already made an album cover which is a picture of a little chair that I screwed into my wall and put my red hat in a doggie bag on top of the chair. I also put white duct tape with the name of the album and Tender Glue, which ended up invisible since I manipulated the picture with exposure afterwards. But if you look closely, you can still see it. It took almost the whole day to take that picture. So now about the recording and why it was a bad idea: Not only can you hear the high pitch static noise and interference in the monitors, you could also hear everything going on including the dishwasher or cell phones. I had to sit on the floor with the mic close to the ground to record vocals because it was the only place that the mic wouldn’t pick up those noises, which I later realized was caused by the electric panel and all the wires that were next to the closet. I tried different options to eliminate the noise but nothing worked.

Today, we are premiering Brooklyn indie-folk act Tender Glue latest single “Goodbye Bushwick” (streaming below) off forthcoming new album ‘Steady Light.’ Sounding out curling atmospherics that recall Kurt Vile’s great 2011 release ‘Smoke Ring from My Halo” from a few years back, the guitar-based track is also, impressively, a poetic paean of days gone by in the tradition of none other than Dylan or Cohen.

Dirty Friends Video Premiere + New Album Date Announced

Enter Tender Glue, a man’s world that is made up of Tom Gluewicki and his journey to NYC. Tom was originally born and raised in Poland and later moved to New York in 2002, he explains his first encounter with playing music when he was twelve years­ old after he had fixed a broken guitar that his brother brought home. Tender Glue’s musical genres include some elements of post punk, combined with acoustic and lo-fi sounds. “Dirty Friends” is off his last EP Wait For Steady Light, though the project is announcing a new LP called Steady Light, being released later this summer, August 26, 2016. 

The latest from this NYC based bedroom artist is a video for “Dirty Friends” featuring Gluewicki and toy robots taking over New York! Behold! As they zip fearlessly off train lines and alley ways. This video combines some of the most visually nuanced layering i’ve seen in a bit. From photos randomly taking up portions of the screen to multiple videos creating a tapestry of images.

Tender Glue Announces Upcoming EP titled, “Wait for Steady Light”

On September 25, 2015, Brooklyn-based artist known as Tender Glue will be releasing his debut album, “Wait for Steady Light”. To promote this album, Tender Glue will be performing an EP Release Show at Bar Matchless in Brooklyn, New York on September 26th 2015. You may have seen him previously perform at several local music venues throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan such as Pine Box Rock Shop, Muchmore’s, Sidewalk Cafe, and The Bodega Wine Bar where he was formerly employed and first started performing. He has performed in Europe in places such as London and Luxembourg.

Originally born and raised in Poland, Tender Glue moved to New York in 2002 and currently resides in the Bushwick/Ridgewood area where he’s lived for about 13 years. Tender Glue explains his first encounter with playing music when he was twelve years-old after he had fixed a broken guitar that his brother brought home (You can learn more about his story in the “ABOUT” section of his website). After several years of creating original music, this album is a culmination of raw recordings, composed with minimal equipment using the resources he had in his home. Tender Glue’s musical genres include indie rock, some elements of post punk, combined with acoustic sounds.
